[edit] Background
There is an effort underway in the OTA through the Architecture Workgroup to address the broad issues which affect interoperability in systems which use OpenTravel messages.
The Interoperability Test Suite is one part of this effort.
It is under development.
All statements here about it are descriptions of what it will do or should be.
Instructions for installing the test suite are here.
[edit] Description
The Interoperability Test Suite is a piece of software that is useful for testing systems that implement OTA messages.
- It is configurable and customizable so that it will be useful as a regression test tool regardless of conformance to OTA specifications or recommendations.
- However, it will also report accurately whether OTA specifications and recommendations are followed.
- It uses customizable, easy-to-read-and-create "Usage Profiles" specification files so that Usage Profiles can be formally specified, made useful, and validated against.
The Interoperability Test Suite consists of:
- a test client which allows you to exercise an OTA server
- a test server which allows you to exercise an OTA client
[edit] Status
The Interoperability Test Suite is in "alpha" state, which means it works (but just barely).
It is free software, so I work on it in my spare time (!?!).
If you want to, you can install it according to the following instructions
and contact me. I will be much more likely to advance the software rapidly
if I know that there is a user base that cares about it.
If the OpenTravel Interoperability Test Suite is of interest to you, I would encourage you to contact me.
The following people are the ones I remember that have expressed to me their interest in using the test suite thus far.
- Brandon Steele (Sabre)
- K. Camenzuli (Avis/Budget)
- EJ Siwek (APEX)
- David Morley (Marriott)
- Dan Romescu
